You’re sitting on your couch sipping coffee on a lazy Sunday morning, your mind wonders to the possible activities for the day… Everything seems like extensive effort but you are simultaneously aware of the fact that you need to eat at some point; the answer to all of your troubles is of course, Brunch. The most versatile meal of them all, whilst providing you with a socially acceptable opportunity to open up some bubbly before noon. Luckily, Cape Town has you covered on fascinating brunch spots with attractive food offerings.

Jarryds

Famously known as one of the best breakfasts in Cape Town, this list would be remiss without a mention of the amazing eggs benedict at Jarryds. They do it so well that they have a whole variety of different styles, we highly recommend the Mexican or Fried Chicken benedict that pair perfectly with the bottomless mimosas that they offer all weekend

Kleinsky’s Delicatessen

If you have not experienced a Kleinsky’s bagel, you have yet to live. Just a simple Salmon & Cream cheese bagel, with the perfect ratio of salmon, cream cheese, capers and onions on a perfectly toasted and freshly baked sesame seed bagel. If that is not quite your style, we recommend their pizza bagels as well: a combination of bagels and pizza, how could it go wrong?

Superette

Based in the up and coming neighbourhood of Woodstock, Superette is a chic restaurant that is relatively new on the Cape Town brunch scene. Their menu itself is tantalising enough for us to be planning our next Sunday Funday there. The Superette’s Omelette is filled with pan-fried mushrooms, zucchini and goats’ cheese, served with baby rosa tomatoes and lemon dressed greens – yes please!

Coco Safar

Best. Croissant. In. Cape Town. Those five words should have you on the way to grab your car keys but if that’s not enough, their coffee is superb, the sweet treats from their couture pâtisserie are mind blowing and the breakfast selection is cutting edge. We highly suggest you try their eggs Benedict on their famous croissant with lamb bacon, paired with their home roasted and brewed coffee, it is a meal that you won’t easily forget.

Jason Bakery

The smell of freshly baked pastries as you walk through the door is probably half of the reason you would choose to brunch at Jason Bakery. Their breakfast menu is somewhat limited but the extensive selection of pastries more than makes up for it. We do recommend their Apple Pie oats as an ultimate comfort meal for those winter months where we brunch despite the rain outside. Some stars from the menu are the Blueberry Cinnabun Danish, the Almond Croissant and the Carrot Cake Cheesecake

Oranjezicht Market

What started off as a non-descript food market in Cape Town, Oranjezicht Market has now become a go-to space for locals looking for a wide variety of artisanal foods, clothes and home décor. From RAW vegan bar to Korean fried chicken, they truly have something for everyone. We recommend grabbing a smoothie, a Bacon & Brie sandwich and sitting in the sun with a group of like-minded people while you soak up the sunrays and chilled house music.

Lily’s Restaurant

Just across from the Mouille Point promenade, Lily’s sits awaiting the brunch crowd that crave the sea breeze whilst they sip on their morning coffee. A picturesque restaurant with delectable foods, what more could you ask for on your brunch spot search? Their pancakes topped with raspberries, lime, coconut, crème fraiche and honey are the perfect option for the crowd with a sweet

Open Door

At Constantia Uitsig wine estate is the perfect setting for a stylish brunch with stunning views of the vineyards. The menu will leave you already planning your next visit, with items such as the almond-crusted French toast sandwich with orange marmalade, boerenkaas, watercress and sour cream. After your brunch, you can always head over to the tasting rooms and continue the fun with some wine and bubbly.

The Pot Luck Club

Last but surely not least, we have one of the most famous restaurants in Cape Town, however nobody seems to think ‘brunch’ when they hear Pot Luck Club. We’re here to tell you that if you’re looking for a fine dining option, they have you covered with tapas platters of salmon tataki, arancini, fish tacos and pork belly sliders – just to mention a few! They also offer bottomless bubbly at an additional fee, which is definitely worth it for the wholistic experience of a high-end brunch.

We hope that this has you excited for the upcoming weekend and all your future brunch escapades!
