“Subtle old oak frames sour cherry & brambly black fruit compote

Number of bottles made:

2,450 bottles

Further Notes:

This uniquely South African variety was developed  by Abraham Izak Perold (1880-1941), a South African chemist and viticulturalist   being a cross of Pinot Noir and Cinsault (also known as Hermitage). He created the Pinotage cultivar in 1925, whilst being professor of viticulture at Stellenbosch University. Our 2017 “Vanbrugh” is a well-rounded, smooth Pinotage, with a full fruity flavour. For those learning about this classic variety it is interesting to taste alongside our oaked Pinotage 2014- The same vines, same wine maker but different vintage and with oaking.
